Write while you hold the baby
You should not have to wait for quiet to get things done. Wispr Flow turns your spoken thoughts into final-draft writing so you can reply to messages, draft a school email, or update a freelance brief while caring for your family. It removes filler, corrects punctuation, formats lists, and keeps your tone so sending is one step. Works on Mac, Windows, and iPhone. Try Wispr Flow for parents.
I normally send this email out on Wednesday mornings, but today I was DRAGGING. My 9-month-old baby is teething and was up pretty much all of last night. I think I was operating on three brain cells for most of the day. I usually write this email a day or two ahead of time, but again, TEETHING IS THE WORST.
Once we got the kids down this evening, I decided to write this newsletter anyway. You know why?? Well, because I’m contractually obligated to the sponsor above, and because starting late is better than doing nothing at all… this translates into your finances as well.
A lot of folks think that if they don’t start saving and investing for retirement or otherwise until later in life, they’re screwed. That’s not true. I promise you, starting late and doing something is always better than doing nothing. Sure, you won’t get as much time to let your money grow and compound, but it is NEVER too late. As long as you have air in your lungs, you still have time to get your financial life in order.
I almost gave up tonight. I almost didn’t send this email. But as I’m writing this, I feel proud of myself. My brain may not be firing on all cylinders right now, and that’s okay. I’m probably going to wake up tomorrow and see a few typos and regret how I’m writing this off the cuff. I’m also going to cut myself some slack, and you should, too. Whether you’re writing a newsletter or saving for your future, it’s not about perfection; it’s about progress. Progress isn’t always linear either. Some days you can give 10%, other days you can give 100%.
So tomorrow, if you get a decent night of sleep, I want you to make a small amount of progress with your finances. Start tracking that spending. Up your retirement contribution. Pay down a credit card. Let’s move forward.
It’s. Never. Too. Late!!! Okay, but now it’s 9:15 pm, and it is too late for me to be up writing. Good night. I appreciate you.
