The Real Cost of a 1-Day Gutter Upgrade
We studied what professional roofers are saying about gutter guard prices in 2025… and here’s what we found out.
Finding the best price comes down to just two simple things:
Cut out the middleman and get a solution that installs over your existing gutters in a day or less.
If done right, you can afford the best gutter guards along with increased property value and even a 100% no-clog guarantee.
You can learn all the basics and how to ‘skip’ the middleman with (fair) local pricing on this new website.

I woke up a couple of weeks ago with a throbbing shoulder. I’ve had shoulder pain before, a lasting gift from my years playing softball, but the pain was a bit more intense than normal this time around. I sighed and gingerly rolled out of bed to avoid exacerbating my injury that has seemingly reignited out of nowhere. I knew this time my normal “ignore it until it goes away” method likely wouldn’t work.
That same morning I found two new gray hairs and my toes and knuckles cracked from the slowly invading arthritis. Ah, yes, I can smell middle age from here.
I’m a big believer in the saying “age is just a number”, but I’m also a realist and a pragmatist. I’ve had two babies in 3 years, I’m exhausted, and I haven’t focused on my health much. If bowls of ice cream were good for you, I’d be in great shape. I know my health has taken a bit of a back seat, but this particular morning made me evaluate a daunting question and kick my butt into gear: What is wealth without health?
There are two ways to think about this. First, poor health can decimate our wealth. In the US, the average senior will spend more than $150,000 in healthcare during retirement. The longer you can extend your healthspan, the longer your money will last. Simple as that. Of course there are diseases and accidents we have no control over. I know this well. My husband had cancer at 32 and was a fit Army Ranger. Nevertheless, you should give yourself the best opportunity possible for a longer healthspan.
Also, if you’re in poor health you simply cannot enjoy the fruits of your labor. Your quality of life and ability to spend money as you see fit (wealth) is substantially impacted by how physically and mentally fit you are (health).
Deep down we all know this, I’m not telling you something completely groundbreaking here. The message I want to give you is to prioritize your health ABOVE ALL ELSE (I’m talking to myself now, too). Your wealth is meaningless without it. You can’t build, enjoy, or keep your wealth if you’re in poor health.
I’m pushing 40. Forty is young! I have a goal of living to 100. I want to see my girls grow, maybe have a family of their own, and I’ll have to live to be quite old to enjoy that. So starting today, I’m focusing on increasing my healthspan. I’m going to re-read the book Outlive. I’m going to take my dog for a walk. I may even get physical therapy for this aching shoulder (ugh). We all work too hard not to be able to enjoy ourselves as we get older. The real wealth, ultimately, is good health.
As your friendly neighborhood financial educator, I only want to share and recommend financial products I really believe in and personally use. As of this week, I’m now officially an affiliate of Boldin! If you aren’t ready to spend thousands on a financial planner, but want to make sure you’re on the right path to retirement, Boldin is an excellent tool to do just that. I describe it as the TurboTax for retirement planning. It’s easy to use and you can try it out for free.

PARENT OF THE WEEK!

Drumroll please!! This week we’re honoring my lovely friend Leanna Adams. I met Leanna about a decade ago when I took one of her sketch acting classes in Atlanta. Since that time we’ve collaborated on a few projects and shows, but we’re most notably the proud co-creators and producers Vape! The Grease Parody (stay tuned for more exciting Vape news in the coming weeks).
I admire Leanna so much. First of all, she’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. Second of all, she’s living her dream as an actor-writer-producer while raising a stellar kiddo. Leanna wrote, directed, and starred in the holiday feature film Christmas With Jerks (which boasts an impressive 89% on Rotten Tomatoes!!) You can watch Leanna’s film on Prime or Tubi. It’s like a Hallmark movie but with more vodka and vibrators!
Here’s some wisdom Leanna had to share with our Cents of Humor community:
If you could go back and give one piece of advice to yourself on your first day as a parent, what would it be?
Don't take yourself so dang seriously! Things will go wrong, and the more relaxed you are about them, the better.
What’s one piece of advice you hope your kid keeps with them forever?
I hope my Shannon will always remember that kindness is our religion. We have to regularly remind ourselves to give grace to others and—especially when it's hard—find a way to be kind.
What’s your favorite thing about being a parent?
My favorite thing about being a parent is seeing him discover the things he's passionate about—books, music, movies—and having conversations with him. I also love hearing him try out jokes, which is very hit-or-miss right now. Actually, there can't be just one favorite thing!
What’s one thing you spend money on that improves the quality of your life?
I spend money on my skin. I go to a dermatologist yearly and do some bougie lasering. And although I plan to let my hair go white and allow everything on my body to sag to the ground, I do have clear, glowy skin, and that makes me happy.
Congrats to Leanna on being our Parent of the Week! Check out Christmas With Jerks if you’re looking for a fun holiday movie, too. If you’d like to nominate an awesome parent or caregiver, fill out this form! And as always, help us grow this digital village by sharing!
